Lobbying
As lobbyists on behalf of our clients, MCL will work to pass or stop legislation in the Georgia General Assembly.
We know legislation holds the power to devastate businesses. Therefore, we believe in the value of building relationships with legislators. This allows a lobbyist to articulate how certain bills could be hazardous to businesses. By sharing another solution, we represent the voice of your organization.
Lobbyists are on the ground among legislatures, reading and analyzing bills, with the needs of our clients in mind. We review both the positive and negative aspects of bills that could affect your business. There are many steps between a bill and a law. Our knowledge of the legislative process enables us to pass this information along to our clients in a succinct and profitable manner.
Matt Littlefield understands a business’s need to have a voice in our government. With our legislative understanding and honest values, let MCL be the voice of your group’s needs.
Procurement
In order to enhance growth for your business, MCL will work to obtain government contracts for clients.
We want to see your business flourish. From the local to the federal level, there are many opportunities for businesses to procure government contracts for the provision of goods or services. This government purchasing is highly regulated. MCL can help your business understand the government’s requirements in order to develop a competitive bid for the job.
We believe it is valuable for our government and our economy when legislatures and businesses work together. Therefore we will work diligently to help legislatures craft bills with language that supports the needs of businesses seeking government contracts.
Appropriations
To meet a client’s needs, MCL will negotiate to obtain funds through the annual state budget. Georgia’s fiscal year runs from July 1 through June 30 of the following year. In 2019, the total budget available to the state is $46.9 billion. This includes $26.2 billion in state funding, $14.1 billion in federal funding, and $6.6 billion in other funds. This record-setting budget’s increase is due to the state’s natural economic growth.
By pushing through bills that benefit everyday Georgians, MCL can assist your organization in making sure Georgia invests in the needs of its people. Public service entities such as school systems, charities, foster homes, public safety, transportation, health care, and non-profits deserve the benefits of our growing economy. This year legislators voted to increase the K-12 spending plan for Georgia’s public schools by $167 million, due in part to the tireless efforts of lobbyists working on behalf of teachers.
In addition, we seek to help businesses reap these benefits as well. By acting as liaison between our clients and the state budget, we speak on behalf of the people who make Georgia great—and are continuing to help us thrive.
