Georgia’s fiscal year runs from July 1 through June 30 of the following year. In 2019, the total budget available to the state is $46.9 billion. This includes $26.2 billion in state funding, $14.1 billion in federal funding, and $6.6 billion in other funds. This record-setting budget’s increase is due to the state’s natural economic growth.
By pushing through bills that benefit everyday Georgians, MCL can assist your organization in making sure Georgia invests in the needs of its people. Public service entities such as school systems, charities, foster homes, public safety, transportation, health care, and non-profits deserve the benefits of our growing economy. This year legislators voted to increase the K-12 spending plan for Georgia’s public schools by $167 million, due in part to the tireless efforts of lobbyists working on behalf of teachers.
In addition, we seek to help businesses reap these benefits as well. By acting as liaison between our clients and the state budget, we speak on behalf of the people who make Georgia great—and are continuing to help us thrive.
